Now, I am confident that this is the end of the road for myself and this LiveJournal. At a later time something new and different may spawn and build off of what this has been, but as the saying goes, "Every dog has his day."

Closing in on 6 years, this marks entry number 1,821. Compound the deleted entries and posts to other communities, and I feel fine suggesting I've written about 2,000 journal entries of one sort or another in what was really about 5 years time. Considering that a user profile doesn't include community comments, I'm guessing I've written about 5,000 comments altogether.

My slowing down and (now) dismissal is really just a sign of me coming to terms with the very things that fueled my LiveJournal. My desire for attention and self-importance, my stress-induced sleeplessness, my constant attempts at finding things inside of me that may not have been there... such things have come to pass as I've changed the past 9 months or so.

What I didn't expect almost 6 years ago, was that I would make friends through LiveJournal... friends from different parts of the World, even... and luxuriously be able to get to know their personalities in real life. If I find myself returning, it would be with the elevated purpose that I could make more of these friendships - because that has been the most amazing thing.

If you'd like to stay in touch with me, please email me (Chad.Sprangel at gmail.com) as much contact info as you feel comfortable with and I'll return the same.

I was thinkin' last night, hypothetical question: What would I do if I just flat-out couldn't skateboard, but everything else is the same? After giving it some thought, I think I'd become a bicycle messenger... and I actually envy them in some ways. I mean, if you're into bikes, and you get to ride a bicycle all day... then there ya go. Just get a fast Fixie and hall ass around the city with your walkie-talkie and if you aren't on delivery then sit around and drink coffee with the rest of the posse.

I wouldn't mind doin' that anyhow. Maybe someday. Maybe I could be a bike messenger in Shanghai. That'd be sick!

...

Number 2 of 19 planned city skateparks opens in Portland today. If I ever do decide to "settle down"... Portland might have to be the place.

I have skateboard madness. Or, just madness. Like that Epicly Later'd episode with Andrew Reynolds. If you've never watched Vice TV you should check it out: VBS.TV
